A luxurious prime central London residential led mixed use development over eight storeys.
Comprising lateral apartments and a duplex penthouse with private lift lobbies, St James's Apartments also provides a separate ground floor retail unit facing onto the vibrant Strutton Ground food market. Located in the prestigious ward of St. James’s, the development is moments from Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St James’s Park and tube station plus Buckingham Palace and many other iconic London landmarks such as the London-eye.
The project required the acquisition of two separate land parcels that were combined into a single building plot. The demolition included the two original structures plus the demolition and rebuild of an external staircase within a neighbour’s demise to allow the new RC frame structure to cantilever at first floor over a UKPN substation and above which the frame continues up to the eighth floor.
Building in this location required meticulous construction project management from the UPG team and subcontractors due to constrained logistics. The design was updated from the original planning permission to reflect updated regulations. The exterior is a traditional masonry brickwork finish in keeping with the surroundings and the interior design was a collaboration between several designers.
